Cruise America has four types of RV available to hire and one adventure travel trailer.

All of the vehicles are relatively large motorhomes and sleep between 3-7 people. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, in a group, or with family, this rental company has something for everyone!

The amenities will differ depending on which vehicle you choose, but generally, they feature a gas stove, toilet, and shower.

7. RVezy - Best for budget-friendly RV rentals in NYC

RVezy has nearly 100 rental options in and around NYC and that’s without taking the rest of the state into consideration.

The majority of these are fantastic travel trailers that offer a lot of space, but you’ve also got campervans and motorhomes including this Class C Forester!

The main difference between them both is that Avenue A features an outdoor shower, whilst Avenue B has both an indoor and outdoor shower.

The pickup point for 84 RV Rentals is technically in New Jersey, but it’s just a 5-minute drive from the border which is why I’ve included it in this list.

There are also some great benefits to booking your rental with 84 RV as you can leave your car at the depot, they allow Sunday drop-off, and the waste tanks will be emptied upon your return.

Not only that but each rental comes with 100 miles a day free, and pets are allowed although there is an extra charge.

Vehicles on offer:

84 RV Rentals have four RVs on offer and three travel trailers so there’s something for everyone. Sleeping between 4-8 people, you won’t be short of space with any of these.

All the motorhomes are Class C RVs with them ranging from 24’ to 32’ feet in size.

10. Meyer’s RV - Best for large families and groups

Meyer’s RV has a great rental package that includes insurance, free parking for your vehicle (if needed), an RV demonstration, and a full tank of gas. 

Another great thing about Meyer’s RV is that all vehicles are from 2022 so you’ll be getting a new vehicle! Their campers are also pet-friendly, you’ll just need to pay an extra charge.

However, this rental company only hires to those over the age of 25.

Vehicles on offer:

Meyer’s RV has five types of motorhomes available. The 2351LE and 2151SLEF are the smallest vehicles which sleep four people, and the 2851SLE sleeps six. 

The largest motorhome here has a slide-out design too so you’ll have plenty of space.

No matter which one you choose, you’ll benefit from a queen bed, shower, toilet, fridge/freezer, and stove/oven.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in New York?

The cost of motorhome rentals in New York will differ depending on the company you hire from, the duration of your trip, and the class of RV you choose.

Generally, when hiring an RV in New York, you’re looking to pay between $80-150 per night for a small campervan, and between $150-$300 per night for a large motorhome.

How old do you need to be to hire an RV in New York?

In most cases, you need to be at least 21 years of age to hire a campervan in New York. However, you’re likely to be paying a young driver's surcharge unless you’re 25 for insurance purposes.

Just keep in mind that some rental companies will require you to be 25 or over. For this reason, make sure you check the company’s terms and conditions before you book.

Is New York RV-friendly?

While the city of New York arguably isn’t very RV friendly, the state in general is perfect for a road trip!

Boasting a huge variety of state park campgrounds and boondocking sites, you won’t run out of places to stay. Many of the popular attractions also have plenty of parking so you don’t need to worry about that either.

Can you camp anywhere in New York?

You definitely can’t camp anywhere in New York State. Although there are plenty of boondocking sites and campgrounds available, you’ll likely need a permit if you’re looking to stay in one of the state park campgrounds.

You can’t park up overnight in the cities either so just keep that in mind when planning your trip!
