Although it’s not technically in New York State, the pick-up location is right by the state border near Staten Island.

If you’re still not convinced, then Road Bear also offers one way rentals and 24/7 emergency assistance so you’ll never be caught short.

Road Bear has five different vehicles ranging from the Class B campervan rental which sleeps four to the Class C ‘29-31’ which sleeps up to seven.
No matter which vehicle you choose, you’ll have plenty of amenities including an exterior awning, kitchen equipment, and a shower and toilet.
All of the vehicles at Road Bear offer plenty of space too, and feature a WiFi hotspot which is always handy!
If you’re looking to rent a camper in NY then Escape Rentals is the perfect option.
They have pick-up and drop-off locations all across the United States and offer one-way rentals which makes them a great choice if you’re planning to travel around the country.
So you can hire a campervan in New York and then drop it off at one of their other rental locations like Portland or Los Angeles for example.
You’ll also benefit from 24/7 roadside assistance, no young driver surcharge fee (if you’re over 21), and up to four drivers are covered on the vehicle for free!
Escape Campervans have five vehicles available, but only two of these can be rented in New York State. These are the Big Sur and Mavericks.
Both vehicles sleep up to five people and feature a rooftop sleeper and queen bed.

Britz is one of the best options out there for hiring a motorhome!
Not only is their rental process super easy, but all the vehicles are new and of high quality.
One of the best things about Britz is their rental package as it includes a convenience kit, preparation fee, taxes, and 100 miles per day!
Insurance is also included, so you don’t need to worry about that either.
Although the pick-up location isn’t technically in New York State, it’s right by the state border which means you won’t have to drive through the chaotic NYC.
Britz only offers one type of vehicle and it sleeps up to four people. Although you may not have a lot of choices, this motorhome has everything you could need.
With an awning, microwave, fridge/freezer, bedding, and cookware, you won’t be without if you opt for this vehicle.
As the motorhome is relatively large, you'll also benefit from a shower, toilet, and sink!
El Monte is one of the best options when it comes to RV rentals in the USA as they have pick-up locations up and down the country.
This makes them the perfect option for a one-way rental and even better - many of their depots are open on Sundays which allows you plenty of flexibility.
El Monte also offers toll-free roadside assistance, free generator use, and airport transfers (at some locations) with their rentals.
Not only is El Monte a fantastic option for those hiring in New York State, but it's also one of the best RV rental companies in California and Colorado!
There are seven types of motorhomes available to hire with El Monte; six Class C RVs and one huge Class A RV.
The Class C vehicles sleep between 4-6 people, whilst the Class A motorhome sleeps 6 people and offers plenty of space.

Cruise America has over 120 pick-up and drop-off locations throughout North America including Canada and Alaska. This makes them another great option for one-way rentals and they're known to be one of the best rental companies in the USA.
This is one of the most popular RV companies in the United States and they often feature ‘special deals’ on their website. This can include 100 free miles and extra nights for free!
Although they’re a fantastic company, they’re not the option for you if you’re looking to hire a small vehicle as they specialize in motorhomes/RVs.
Cruise America has four types of RV available to hire and one adventure travel trailer.
All of the vehicles are relatively large motorhomes and sleep between 3-7 people. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, in a group, or with family, this rental company has something for everyone!
The amenities will differ depending on which vehicle you choose, but generally, they feature a gas stove, toilet, and shower.
RVezy is a good Outdoorsy alternative and is known for its budget-friendly rentals!
In fact, RVezy is the largest RV rental marketplace in North America so as you can imagine, there are plenty of options.
If you hire an RV with this platform, you’ll also benefit from comprehensive insurance, on-the-go support, and 24/7 roadside assistance.
As you can see there are plenty of reasons to give RVezy a go, and the website is super easy to use. Just input your preferred dates and you can then filter out the listings by size, price, amenities, etc…
RVezy has nearly 100 rental options in and around NYC and that’s without taking the rest of the state into consideration.
The majority of these are fantastic travel trailers that offer a lot of space, but you’ve also got campervans and motorhomes including this Class C Forester!
This pet-friendly vehicle sleeps up to five people and features an awning, a stove, a fridge/freezer, a shower, and a toilet.
Vanish is one of the best options for luxury camper rentals as all their vans are designed to have everything you could possibly need!
This rental company also prides itself on having no hidden costs, with each rental offering unlimited mileage, no cleaning fee, and complimentary roadside assistance.
You’ll also benefit from free parking for a personal vehicle at the depot. Just keep in mind that you need to be 25 or over to hire an RV with Vanish!
There are two types of vehicles available to hire at Vanish; Avenue A and Avenue B.
The main difference between them both is that Avenue A features an outdoor shower, whilst Avenue B has both an indoor and outdoor shower.
Each van comes packed with amenities including a stove, fridge/freezer, toilet, USB outlets, and camping chairs.
The pickup point for 84 RV Rentals is technically in New Jersey, but it’s just a 5-minute drive from the border which is why I’ve included it in this list.
There are also some great benefits to booking your rental with 84 RV as you can leave your car at the depot, they allow Sunday drop-off, and the waste tanks will be emptied upon your return.
Not only that but each rental comes with 100 miles a day free, and pets are allowed although there is an extra charge.
84 RV Rentals have four RVs on offer and three travel trailers so there’s something for everyone. Sleeping between 4-8 people, you won’t be short of space with any of these.
All the motorhomes are Class C RVs with them ranging from 24’ to 32’ feet in size.
Meyer’s RV has a great rental package that includes insurance, free parking for your vehicle (if needed), an RV demonstration, and a full tank of gas.
Another great thing about Meyer’s RV is that all vehicles are from 2022 so you’ll be getting a new vehicle! Their campers are also pet-friendly, you’ll just need to pay an extra charge.
However, this rental company only hires to those over the age of 25.
Meyer’s RV has five types of motorhomes available. The 2351LE and 2151SLEF are the smallest vehicles which sleep four people, and the 2851SLE sleeps six.
The largest motorhome here has a slide-out design too so you’ll have plenty of space.
No matter which one you choose, you’ll benefit from a queen bed, shower, toilet, fridge/freezer, and stove/oven.
The cost of motorhome rentals in New York will differ depending on the company you hire from, the duration of your trip, and the class of RV you choose.
Generally, when hiring an RV in New York, you’re looking to pay between $80-150 per night for a small campervan, and between $150-$300 per night for a large motorhome.
In most cases, you need to be at least 21 years of age to hire a campervan in New York. However, you’re likely to be paying a young driver's surcharge unless you’re 25 for insurance purposes.
Just keep in mind that some rental companies will require you to be 25 or over. For this reason, make sure you check the company’s terms and conditions before you book.
While the city of New York arguably isn’t very RV friendly, the state in general is perfect for a road trip!
Boasting a huge variety of state park campgrounds and boondocking sites, you won’t run out of places to stay. Many of the popular attractions also have plenty of parking so you don’t need to worry about that either.
You definitely can’t camp anywhere in New York State. Although there are plenty of boondocking sites and campgrounds available, you’ll likely need a permit if you’re looking to stay in one of the state park campgrounds.
You can’t park up overnight in the cities either so just keep that in mind when planning your trip!
As you can see there are tons of RV rentals in NYC and the state in general, so you’ve got plenty of options.
Whether you’re looking for a budget-friendly hire, a luxury camper, or a large motorhome, you’ll easily find something that’s suitable.
