We have been planning this blog for weeks now and I’m so happy to be here! I’m overwhelmed! And thank you for being here too and reading what we have to say. Hopefully this title grabbed your attention, so I’d like to take a couple of minutes just to tell you a little bit about me, and how I have come to be a part of this amazing project alongside Cazzy.
So who on earth am I? I am a 22 year old, Economics graduate from the University of Exeter. I grew up in a small village called Higham, and spent most of my childhood with a close group of friends doing things outside, especially camping and cycling because this gave me a chance to explore and experience the great outdoors. I was obsessed with going as far as I could on days off and getting lost as far away from home as I could. When it came to going to University I chose Exeter because not only is it a fantastic university (which i knew would make mum happy) but it’s based in the heart of Devon, which is about as green and as wild a destination left in England. We went camping there as kids and I quickly fell in love with it. I’d say cities scare me, I’m a much bigger lover of the countryside.
My desire to see new places, meet new people and most importantly experience different cultures came about at a very young age. I am extremely lucky to be born into a family where my grandparents were keen to take us on holiday as much as possible. I’d say some years I was able to go on up to 3 cruises a year and by the age of 10 I’d probably been to more countries than some people are able to in their entire lives. By the way this is not meant to be me bragging! I consider myself extremely lucky and am so grateful for the opportunities I have had. However the stage I am at in my life now calls for something different. Instead of spending a day or 2 in each country before sailing off to a new one I want to be able to fully immerse myself in different cultures by living there for a month or more and to do it in true backpacker fashion!
It’s time for me to say goodbye to some of the luxuries I’ve had in the past and instead take the chance to visit some of the more rural and untouched parts of our world and meet some truly incredible people. This journey for me starts in August, and I am privileged to be doing it alongside someone I love, admire, and trust not to get me into too much trouble! I’ve known Cazzy for just over 2 years now and in that time we have come a very long way together, and now we are going to step it up a notch, by launching ourselves 5 and a half thousand miles around the world, at the same time as launching this incredible blog which we hope will inspire, motivate and reassure you the reader that you can fulfill your dreams as well! Travel is our joint passion and I am thrilled you would take the time to read this and I hope you will stay along for the ride. I also hope you give me the chance to hear your thoughts and stories by sharing them with us whenever you can. So go ahead, write something below. Tell me about you, and whether you think we have anything in common!
