During October, Brad and I had the chance to stay in the beautiful Arctic Treehouse Hotel in Rovaniemi, Finland. If you’ve heard of this property before, it would not surprise me as they have won a variety of awards and they’ve featured in a lot of news articles-- that’s actually how I found out about them!
So, if you’re on the lookout for unique, luxury accommodation in Rovaniemi, then look no further. Let me take you through what a stay in the luxurious, innovative and unique Arctic Treehouse Hotel looks like.
The rooms at the Arctic Treehouse Hotel are why you book. You want that unique experience of staying in a treehouse, but with a twist. This isn’t your traditional treehouse, this is a luxurious treehouse with the best views to match.
Your treehouse is known as “the nest” and that’s exactly what it is, a cosy, beautiful nest. The rooms are a perfect fit for a couple travelling together and as soon as you step through the door you can sense the special nature of this hotel.
The room is impeccable, an amazing design, comfortable, stylish and above all, the massive window that gives you views of the forest, is amazing. Get lucky and you might even see the Northern Lights from your very own bed.
The room is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a mini bar, bath robes, toiletries, slippers, and there is an in-room tablet that allows you to communicate with the front desk without leaving your room.
You can order room service, adjust the temperature of your room, request an aurora alarm, request a late check out, all from the touch of a button!
There is even a Nespresso machine in your room which is free to use. As someone who is a coffee fanatic, this was great.
Each room is separated into a sort of cabin, and these are spread out amongst the area. This means if you don’t have a car with you, you can get a shuttle from the hotel reception that will drop you to your cabin.
If you need picked up, you can just communicate via the tablet in your room.
The Arctic Treehouse Hotel pride themselves on their Rakas restaurant and whilst Brad and I didn’t dine for dinner, I can say the menu looked wonderful with a range of options.
We did dine in the restaurant at breakfast and the ambience of the restaurant seating area is amazing. There is a fire located in the middle, and the design and atmosphere of the room instantly makes you feel relaxed.
Breakfast is included in the room rate when staying at the Arctic treehouse hotel and it’s amazing. It’s in a buffet style and includes everything you could possibly need and want.
It includes a range of cereals, smoked reindeer, salmon, cheese selection, a range of breads, pastries, cooked items such as eggs, bacon, beans, sausages, juices, and more. You can also order cappuccino, latte, tea etc as much as you need. The staff are super friendly and welcoming.
This was definitely one of the best buffet style breakfast I’ve experienced. There was a lot of style and effort in the layout and selection of food on offer and I think that adds to the luxurious experience that a stay at the Arctic Treehouse Hotel gives you.
If you’re super lucky, you may be able to see the Northern Lights from your bed at the Arctic Treehouse Hotel. From your tablet in your room, you can set to have notifications that will go off if it’s possible to see the Northern Lights.
This is perfect if you don’t want the job of staring out the window all night, or even waiting in the cold. You can lie in bed and wait until the alarm goes off to let you know the lights are out!
If they’re weak, you’ll probably need to step outside to see them, but if they are super strong, you may see them from your room.
Unfortunately the Northern Lights didn’t come out that night for Brad and I, and we had actually done a Northern Lights Tour, but that’s the nature of the lights, you can’t control them unfortunately!
Ps, if you’d like more tips on seeing the Northern Lights in Finland, then you can check out our post.
I think the Arctic Treehouse hotel is perfectly suited to both couples and families. Brad and I stayed in the Double Nest Suite with a view and it was the perfect set up for couples.
A very romantic, comfortable room and I think it would make a super unique honeymoon destination.
On the other hand, Rovaniemi is a wonderful place to visit with children and the Arctic Treehouse do have larger style rooms that will fit families which makes it a great, unique option to stay in.
Plus, the Arctic Treehouse Hotel can help organise excursions with huskies, reindeer and Northern Lights tour…..and one more thing, it’s right next to Santa Park, which is awesome!
Brad and I visited in the Autumn season, and I think it’s a perfect time to visit Rovaniemi. You have a high chance of seeing the Northern Lights, you might still experience some snowfall, you can see lots of Reindeer, and you can still take a husky ride.
Of course the winter season is the most popular time of year to visit, but if you’re a couple, go during October, trust me, you’ll love it!
Other useful information includes:
For couples I recommend the traditional suite with a view, and for families, I recommend the Arctic Glass House which can fit up to 6 and comes with a sauna.

So there you have it, my review on the awesome Arctic Treehouse Hotel.
If you want a unique hotel experience then this is truly one of the best you can choose. I was impressed from the moment I stepped into reception until the moment I left, and I can’t wait to hopefully bring my kids here in the future!
What I will say is, if you’re visiting in the winter season, then book well in advance, because this is a popular place to stay in Rovaniemi, especially due to it’s amazing location.
