Bali is bursting with awesome waterfalls, and if you’re looking for a unique waterfall that makes an awesome picture (and is super easy to get to), then Kanto Lampo waterfall is the right choice for you! Keep reading to find out all you need to know about visiting Kanto Lampo waterfall in Bali.
Kanto Lampo waterfall is located just 11km outside Ubud, which in Bali time would probably take you around 30 minutes to reach. It’s a super easy waterfall to access, thanks to the fact it’s located in quite a touristy area of Bali.
When it comes to getting to Kanto Lampo waterfall, you’ve got a few options.
Moped: Renting a moped in Bali (if you’re feeling confident enough) is without doubt one of the easiest ways to get around the Island. You can easily rent a moped in Ubud for a super cheap price and drive to Kanto Lampo waterfall. Parking is free too for mopeds. You can even book a moped online nowadays for super convenience. Check it here.
Hire a driver: If you’re coming from Canggu, Seminyak or Kuta, you can easily hire a driver for a day to take you to Kanto Lampo waterfall and other sights in the area. You can rent a driver for a great price online here, or you can even hire a driver for up to 8 hours on the Grab app!
Use Grab/Go-jek: You can use both apps to easily hire a car to take you there and back, or a moped to take you there and back. This will be a cheap and easy option, and you should always have a sim in Bali to order grabs easy from anywhere on the island. Plus, sim cards are very cheap!
Tour: Another option you have is to take a waterfall tour that will combine a stop to Kanto Lampo waterfall. Since this waterfall is growing in popularity, you’ll find many tours add it in, or you can often customize a tour and ask for this waterfall in exchange for another! My favourite tour company is ForeverVacation and they offer a number of high quality, private tours to Bali’s awesome waterfalls.
Kanto Lampo waterfall is only 30 minutes from Ubud (could be quicker depending on the traffic).
Well, yes, but you wouldn’t want too. The water is quite gritty due to the sand underneath, and I highly recommend you wear water shoes because you could easily cut your feet on all the rocks. It’s not the type of place you visit to relax by sitting in the water.
The entrance cost into Kanto Lampo is 15,000 IDR and parking is free, so it’s a fairly cheap place to visit in Bali!
When you arrive you can park up and even put your belongings into a locker if you’ve arrived on a moped, or you don’t want anything to get wet. It’s only about a 5 minute walk down hill to the waterfall, but there isn’t much room on all the rock space if you don’t want to get in the water. So I suggest you try and go when it’s not busy if you aren’t planning on getting wet.
There is a small little cafe that’s on the side of the walk down and it’s a perfect place to stop afterwards for super cheap (and delicious) food and the cheapest cocktails I found in Bali!
So Kanto Lampo waterfall is a “picturesque” waterfall and it makes for a great photo. It’s not a heavy waterfall and you will need to climb on rocks if you want a picture of you on the rocks, and the waterfall flowing behind you. BE CAREFUL. It’s so easy to slip here and when it gets busy, the rocks can get crowded. It’s best to wait your turn for a photo, but sometimes people don’t follow that motto.
You can visit the waterfall all year round but in the wet season it should be a little heavier. However I visited in August and it was perfect. You should also aim to visit early in the morning before the crowds arrive, or late afternoon when it seems to be a little bit quieter. But if anything, like all things when they reach Instagram, this waterfall will rise in popularity!
Since you are super close to Ubud, I suggest you just find a nice property there and you can combine your visit with a stay in Ubud to explore the rice paddies, temples and other waterfalls in the area. We use booking.com to search for and book all our accommodation in Bali.
Tegenungan Waterfall is another awesome and popular waterfall that is near Ubud, so you could easily combine a trip to both waterfalls in one day. Goa Rang Reng waterfall is also close by and I never actually visited, but it looks cool, so if you’ve been, then let me know what it’s like in the comments below.
