I’m Cazzy and I’ve travelled a lotttttt, and one of my favourite travel hacks? The use of eSIMs!
Still relatively "new", the humble eSIM has taken away stress of staying connected abroad.
I’ve tested over 20 eSIMS and Nomad is a well established brand, and one I tested briefly when I was in the USA!
But in celebration of their Travel Tuesday offer with up to 20% off eSIMs, I thought it would be great to get a dedicated review up on the blog!
Let’s start with that discount!
It’s simple, but effective!
Get a whopping 10% off your Nomad eSIM with the discount code NOMDREAM.
In short, Nomad eSIM is a digital SIM card that lets you use data on your phone without the hassle of a physical SIM.
If you're someone who hops from country to country, this is a game-changer.
Nomad allows you to activate multiple mobile data plans from around the world directly through your phone, meaning you won’t have to buy and swap out local SIM cards every time you cross a border.
No more scrambling at the airport to find a SIM store or dealing with slow, expensive roaming charges.
Nomad covers 190+ countries and offers data plans tailored to each destination, which means you can stay connected in popular travel hotspots or remote areas, wherever your journey takes you.
The best part about Nomad? Their global coverage.
With data plans available in over 190 countries, Nomad makes sure you stay connected no matter where you’re headed.
Whether you're road-tripping through the U.S., hiking the Dolomites in Italy, or soaking up the sun on a Bali beach, Nomad has got you covered
Unlike some eSIM services that limit coverage to a few countries, Nomad offers almost universal connectivity.
This is a huge plus for anyone who plans to visit multiple countries during their trip. For example, if you’re traveling through Europe or Southeast Asia, you can choose a regional plan that covers all the countries you plan to visit, saving you the trouble of managing multiple SIM cards.
Activating your Nomad eSIM is about as easy as it gets.
The process is simple, fast, and user-friendly.
All you need to do is download the Nomad app on your phone, select your plan, and scan a QR code to activate the eSIM.
That’s it! You won’t have to deal with any paperwork, language barriers, or waiting in line at a store.
The app will guide you through the activation process step-by-step, ensuring that you’re online in no time. Plus, once you’re set up, you’ll be able to manage your plan directly from the app, which brings us to the next great feature.
One of the best features of the Nomad eSIM app is the ability to track your data usage in real-time.
It’s easy to get caught up in scrolling, and streaming when you’re on holiday, but knowing exactly how much data you’ve used can save you from any unwanted surprises.
The app makes it super easy to monitor your data usage, and if you’re running low, you can top up right from the app. This is a great tool for anyone who wants to keep an eye on their usage and avoid going over budget. You won’t be left guessing whether you’ve used too much data or if you need to add more.
Nomad offers a variety of data plans designed to suit different types of travel.
Whether you’re just popping over to a neighboring country for a weekend or embarking on a month-long adventure, there’s a plan that fits your needs.
You can buy a single-country plan, a multi-country plan, or even a global plan that covers multiple regions. The plans vary in data allowances, so if you’re just checking emails and browsing maps, a smaller plan will do. If you’re a heavy data user—think video calls, streaming, or remote work—there are bigger plans to keep you going.
Nomad offers a transparent pricing structure, which means no surprise charges. When you purchase a plan, the price is clearly displayed, and you only pay for what you need. There are no hidden fees or unexpected charges when it comes to topping up your data.
I love an all-in-one eSIM. One eSIM for countless countries is perfect for a full-time traveller.
Nomad's Global-EX eSIM is designed for frequent international travelers seeking seamless connectivity across multiple countries without the need to install a new eSIM for each trip. This plan offers extensive coverage and flexibility, making it an ideal choice for those who travel to various destinations throughout the year. This will be perfect or me next year when I've got plans to cross through 9 countries across a 5 month stint!
These are some of the price examples. I personally think the 10GB plan is great for half a year, but for me I would be opting for the 20GB for a full year, (the countries I'm visiting next year are covered under the 54 countries plan!) 20GB is more than enough for me to use when I'm on-the-go and then I just use WiFi for the rest!

As mentioned earlier, Nomad has global coverage in over 190 countries. It’s one of the widest-reaching eSIM providers out there. Whether you’re off to popular tourist spots or remote destinations, Nomad offers reliable service, so you’re never left without internet.
No need to wrestle with fiddly physical SIM cards or complicated setup instructions. With Nomad, you can have your eSIM up and running in just a few minutes. Whether you’re tech-savvy or a complete beginner, you’ll find the process super easy to navigate.
Nomad’s data plans are designed to be affordable for all types of travelers. You can choose from a wide range of options depending on how much data you need. Plus, the flexibility to pick and choose based on your destination makes Nomad great for both short trips and long stays.
Nomad’s pay-as-you-go model means no surprise roaming fees. When you buy a plan, you know exactly what you’re paying for and can avoid high roaming charges. This gives you peace of mind and helps you stay in control of your travel budget.
Tracking your data usage in real time is an incredibly useful feature. It gives you the ability to monitor your usage and adjust accordingly, ensuring that you don’t exceed your data limit unexpectedly.
If you need voice services or a local phone number, Nomad’s eSIM may not be for you. Nomad offers data-only plans, which means you won’t be able to make traditional voice calls or send SMS messages. While you can use apps like WhatsApp, Skype, or Messenger to make calls and text, you’ll need a separate service if you require a local number.
While Nomad offers impressive global coverage, there may be limited coverage in more rural or remote areas. So, if you’re venturing off the beaten path in some countries, make sure to check if Nomad covers the specific regions you plan to visit.
Nomad doesn’t currently offer inflight connectivity. So if staying connected during flights is crucial for you, this could be a drawback. Other eSIM providers may offer the ability to access the internet while you’re cruising at 35,000 feet, but for now, you’ll have to disconnect during your flight.
Apple
All iPads with 4G connectivity that have come out since 2018 support eSIM:
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 4G or 5G is not compatible with eSIM.
When compared to other eSIM services like GigSky, Eskimo, and Maya, Nomad holds its own in terms of coverage, ease of use, and affordable pricing. The key advantage of Nomad is its wide range of country-specific and regional plans, giving travelers more control over their choices and budgets. While some other providers may have slightly better options for in-flight connectivity or voice services, Nomad is hard to beat when it comes to global coverage and real-time data tracking.
Overall, Nomad eSIM is a fantastic option for anyone who travels internationally and wants to avoid the hassle of local SIM cards, roaming fees, and complicated setups. With extensive global coverage, easy setup, flexible plans, and no hidden fees, Nomad provides a reliable, affordable way to stay connected while you explore the world.
