Starting with one of my favourite romantic destinations ever, Rome.
Rome is famous for its romance and it’s long been a popular destination for couples all around the world.
I visited Rome on a romantic getaway for my birthday and it was spectacular.
There are so many amazing things to do in Rome for couples.
Rome oozes romance and there’s nothing quite like enjoying an authentic Italian meal with a glass of prosecco with a view of the Trevi Fountain, or The Colosseum. It’s truly magical.
Rome has lots of amazing sights to see, but one of my favourite romantic memories is a boat ride at the Borghese Lake.
It’s only €3 to rent a boat and you can create your very own romantic scene…
Where to stay: We recommend the Al Viminale Hill Inn & Hotel as an extremely romantic hotel.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? I personally think Spring time is perfect. Warm temperatures and it’s less crowded, so you’ll feel like you’ve got some places all to yourself.
The charming town of Fussen is nestled in the Bavaria region of Germany and it oozes charm and charisma.
We visited during the winter months and it was extremely magical.
The town was filled with charming lights, a christmassy vibe and there was snow on the ground.
Fussen town itself is quite small, which gives it an authentic vibe.
The cobblestone streets have beautiful local restaurants, great bakeries with traditional treats, and it’s home to one of the most romantic castles in the world: Neuschwanstein Castle.
This castle stands on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau and is said to be the castle on which the iconic Disney castle is based.
It’s STUNNING and a romantic horse & carriage ride here with a cup of mulled wine with epic views is what romantic memories are made off.
Where to stay: we stayed in a fantastic, cosy log cabin that literally oozes romance, this is the property here.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? Winter, 100% Snowy, cosy fire in the log cabin with a few drinks, what could be more romantic?!
Venice is one of the most charming cities ever and there is a reason it’s one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in the world.
With so many things to do in Venice, you'll be spoilt for choice.
I think the fact that it’s a water-based city with no vehicles adds to the romantic atmosphere.
In Venice you can walk hand-in-hand everywhere, or take a romantic gondola ride along the beautiful Venice canals.
Everything about Venice is romantic, it feels like it’s been built for couples.
There’s nothing quite like wandering the small streets, getting lost then stumbling upon a wine bar tucked away from the crowds and enjoying a delicious tiramisu with a delicious Italian wine.
Venice also has very romantic attractions on offer including The Rialto Bridge, countless museums, stunning churches and more.
Where to stay: There are a bunch of beautiful hotels with stunning views of the canals. This is my favourite here.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? Spring is a perfect time as the crowds are less and the sun is shining.
A fairy-tale medieval town, with picturesque canals, beautiful squares and cobbled streets, Bruges ticks all the boxes when it comes to romantic destinations.
I actually think it’s one of the most romantic places to visit in Europe, but doesn't get enough credit.
It’s known as the Venice of the north, so if you’ve already been to Venice, then it’s time to check out Bruges.
Popular activities in Bruges were made for two and you can learn to make traditional Belgium chocolate in a private class, or even take a private beer sampling class, since Belgium is famous for it’s beer and chocolate!
You’ll easily get caught up in the romantic charm of a trip to Bruges.
Where to stay in Bruges: Why not stay in the heart of Bruges in a palace? You are on holiday afterfall! Book it here.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? Autumn is a beautiful time of year with stunning orange and yellows colours blossoming on the trees, and the temperature is cold enough to warrant a hot chocolate!
Bali is one of my favourite romantic destinations in the world and it’s absolutely bursting with romantic things to do, so much so, that I’ve compiled a whole post that’s dedicated to them.
The great thing about a romantic trip to Bali is that it will suit all styles of couples, and all budgets.
Bali can be as cheap or as expensive as you want.
Couples who love to relax will enjoy the laid back vibes of Ubud & Sideman with their stunning rice terraces, traditional Balinese massages and delicious smoothie bowls.
More adventurous couples will find fun in romantic sunrise hikes up volcanoes, snorkelling at Nusa Lembongan and much more.
Best place to stay in Bali: It’s hard to choose when there is so much choice, but a favourite of mine is the Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? June, July & August. You’ll have perfect temperatures and an amazing time.
I personally think that all of Sri Lanka is pretty romantic, which is why it’s a popular romantic destination for honeymooners.
But, one of my favourite romantic locations is Mirissa.
Its beautiful beaches, secret beaches, unique sights and the fact that you can dine on the beach under the stars, all make it super romantic.
This is one of my favourite memories in Mirissa, dining under the stars with a delicious meal and a cocktail in hand.
You can also swim with turtles, learn to surf or go whale watching.
Where to stay in Mirissa: We’ve got a full guide on the ultimate Mirissa beach hotels.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? November to May is peak season, but we visited in October and had no issues and everything was a little cheaper!
“In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.”
If you’re wondering what makes Verona one of the most romantic destinations in the world? Romeo & Juliet.
The story of Romeo and Juliet is set in Verona and on a trip to this romantic city, you can visit Juliet’s Balcony and have your loved one shout romantic words to you,(“Romeo, Romeo, where there art thou Romeo?”) or you can visit the church in which the two were said to be wed.
If you’re a sucker for romance (like me), then you’ll adore this charming city.
Verona is filled with beautiful cities, an epic castle, adorable gardens, coffee shops and more.
Where to stay in Verona: This beautiful hotel has the romance and charm that Verona is famous for.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? Spring time is wonderful with blossoming flowers, fewer crowds and beautiful weather.
Nicaragua might not be a location you traditionally think of when considering romantic places to visit in the world, but you would be pleasantly surprised.
I am yet to find a country that produced epic romantic sunsets like Nicaragua, and one of my favourite romantic spots in the country is the charming town of Granada.
With cute, colorful streets and very unique experiences on offer, this is a romantic destination with a difference. You can witness the awesomeness of seeing an active volcano together, with real lava, a romantic chocolate making class at the Chocolate Museum and much more.
Where to stay in Granada: I can recommend the cute boutique hotel of Hotel Boutique Adela or check out other properties here.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? November to March brings amazing weather and we didn’t find it overly busy.
Dubrovnik is one of my favorite romantic city breaks in Europe.
I love Croatia in general and there are lots of amazing spots to visit in the country, but there is a unique charm and romantic vibe to Dubrovnik.
It’s the home of various spots in Game Of Thrones, including the iconic King’s Landing!
But Dubronik is a heritage town bursting with culture, and a super dreamy destination for couple travellers!
There are lots of really cool activities in the centre, but one of my favorite things to do is simply “get lost” by wandering down the winding streets and you’ll come across cute, secluded restaurants serving up delicious food in a romantic setting.
Where to stay in Dubrovnik? We stayed in a beautiful hotel with amazing views just outside the city centre, (check it here) but you can check hotels within the old town too for extra charm.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? April to May are great months. The weather was fantastic and Dubrovnik itself wasn’t overcrowded.
Rovaniemi is the heart of Lapland, and the home of Santa Claus, so if you’re looking for the perfect winter romantic destination, then there is nothing quite like Lapland!
This is seriously one of my favorite places in the world, and I have such fond memories.
There are so many awesome and unique activities for couples.
Take a private Northern Lights spotting tour and prepare yourself for something epic, or why not go sledding with cute dogs, or visit a reindeer farm!
Lapland is one of the more expensive romantic destinations, but it’s a once in a lifetime experience and totally worth it.
You can even stay in an igloo!
Where to stay in Rovaniemi: We have to recommend the amazing Arctic Treehouse Hotel which is one of the best places I’ve ever had the privilege to stay.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? We visited in October & November, and both times were fantastic. We got snow in November which was even more fun! These months are the best times to catch the Northern Lights in Finland.
Torino is a charming Italian city that often gets overlooked as a romantic destination for couples, and it shouldn’t!
It’s got everything you would expect from an Italian getaway: fantastic food, awesome sights, breathtaking views (it’s surrounded by the alps) and friendly people.
It actually has one other benefit that many other Italian cities don’t have it, it’s MUCH cheaper than the rest.
It’s extremely good value, for if you’re on the lookout for a romantic getaway on a budget, then Turin is a great choice.
It’s also the chocolate capital of Italy, and what’s more romantic than chocolate!?
Where to stay in Turin: We stayed in an Airbnb Apartment, but this hotel looks perfect too in a great location and even has an indoor pool & spa. Book it here.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? Spring is a great time of year to visit. We visited in April and it wasn’t overly busy and the weather was fantastic.
Rouen is a charming town in France with a medieval vibe, interesting history, and tonnes of great things to do.
If you’re looking for French charm, but don’t want to splash out on Paris, then Rouen is a great choice.
It’s located in the Normandy region of France which is truly beautiful and everything you would want in a romantic destination.
Rouen is the perfect blend of new and old and there are lots of stunning gothic churches to see, alongside the famous Joan Of Arc sight.
It's also the perfect place to enjoy romantic dinners and wander down cobblestone streets hand-in-hand with your loved one.
Rouen is hands-down one of the best places to visit in France so make sure you add this town to your bucket list!
Where to stay: We stayed in an Airbnb just outside of the city, but if you’re looking for a great property in the historic centre, I can recommend this one.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? Summer months in Rouen are wonderful, but if you’re looking for less crowds then try spring and autumn.
Dublin is the capital of Ireland, and it’s one of my favourite city break destinations for couples!
Dublin is bursting with things to do, many of which are extremely romantic, you just have to know where to look.
It’s a great destination in Ireland to get a dose of Irish atmosphere and charm, and a good base for some pretty cool day trips, including to the Slane Castle (one of Ireland’s most famous castles).
Picture dining in the pub with your loved one and Guinness or whiskey in hand alongside a dance to some traditional irish music!
Just be sure to wrap up warm when packing for Ireland, as the weather can be famously unpredictable!
Where to stay in Dublin: There are a wide variety of properties to choose from in Dublin. Just check them out here.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? I think winter in Dublin is a fantastic time to visit. There is such a Christmassy vibe and it’s super romantic. Plus, you can hire a campervan in Ireland very cheap at this time of year, and combine this as just one stop on a tour of the island.
Estonia is a wonderful place to visit, and Tallinn is another fantastic romantic destination in Europe.
Tallinn is bursting with charm and charisma, and the Old Town there is probably one of my favourites in all of Europe.
It’s got lots of romantic charm and there is so much to discover in Tallinn that you’ll never be bored. From stunning castles, city walls and a charming old town to discover, you’ll fall in love with Tallinn.
If you’ve got time, it’s also a great place to rent a car and explore other beautiful areas in Estonia, which is actually a beautiful country that I think is underrated.

Best time to visit for optimal romance? We visited in Autumn time and I thought it was perfect, but I’ve heard winter is amazing (they keep winning awards for their epic Christmas markets).
Vilnius is the beautiful capital of Lithuania and it’s probably one of my favorite places in Europe. I love Vilnius for many reasons, but firstly it’s super cheap, so it’s possible to have an uber romantic evening out with your partner, without breaking the bank.
I visited over my birthday and Bradley and I got to engage in some super romantic activities.
From picnics in stunning botanical gardens, to one of the most beautiful castles I’ve seen (Trakkai), you’ll be amazed at what a romantic break to Vilnius has to offer.
Where to stay in Vilnius: Accommodation is cheap and high quality, so have a look at what’s on offer here.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? We visited in April time and the weather was perfect with less crowds.
Agra is one home to one of the most iconic and romantic settings in the world: The Taj Mahal.
Not only is the Taj Mahal one of the new seven wonders of the world, but the story behind it is all about romance.
The structure was built by Shah Jahan for his 3rd wife and his tomb lies inside to this day.
A visit to Agra is definitely a unique romantic experience but a worthwhile one.
Plus there are lots of other romantic activities to undertake whilst you’re there.
Where to stay: We had an amazing stay in the Taj Hotel & Convention Centre Agra, the quality was high and the prices low! Book your stay here.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? Peak season is between October and March, so opt for the shoulder seasons instead for less crowds.
Stockholm is a fantastic romantic destination for couples in Scandinavia.
It’s a city that reminds me of Venice, since it's built on water and filled with canals.
Stockholm is a city that’s got an awesome vibe and there are lots of romantic activities on offer here.

Best time to visit for optimal romance? Winter is fantastic because of the beautiful Christmas markets and wonderful atmosphere, but summers here are pretty great too due to the high temperatures!
Mexico is one of the most romantic destinations in the world, in my humble opinion. It’s got everything you need for a lush romantic getaway.
Fabulous, luxurious hotels, fantastic beaches, epic sunsets, fun-filled activities and delicious food and drink.
Most of the coastline of Mexico is perfect for a romantic holiday, but I particularly love Playa Del Carmen.
It’s got the Coco Bongo Club, a whole strip of brilliant restaurants and lots of beautiful beaches & beach clubs.

Coron is truly perfect for couples and you’ll experience uniqueness on every corner.
We actually stayed on a houseboat on Coron Island, and it was one of the most romantic experiences I’ve ever had in my life.

Malta is one of my favourite places in Europe, I love that it’s so small that it's easy to navigate. And Malta’s sister island, Gozo, is super romantic and again, very easy to get around.
Gozo has a really unique vibe to it and it’s got really beautiful sunsets and stunning places to view it, whether it’s by the cliffside or at a restaurant by the sea.
Gozo is also home to it’s own wine region which means you can take a private tour whilst sipping on delicious Gozo wine and local delicacies.

Bled in Slovenia is one of my favourite romantic destinations.
It’s home to Lake Bled and a host of other romantic sites and I can still remember it’s beauty and charm today.
Lake Bled is the perfect place to walk around with a loved one, and rent a boat to create a charming moment from The Notebook.
In the summer months you can paddle board on the lake, and even swim if you wish.
Where to stay in Bled, Slovenia? We stayed in the beautiful Villa Lipa which was spacious, great value and super close to the lake. Book it here.
Best time to visit for optimal romance? All year round looks pretty magical here, but I think Autumn or winter would make for a romantic setting.
This is a bit of a unique suggestion, but I personally believe the Lofoten Islands in Norway are an uber romantic spot.
This is a perfect location for those couples who are looking for adventure and something unique when it comes to a romantic destination.
This is definitely the type of place you need your own vehicle to truly experience the beauty on offer, and if you’re up for camping, or staying in a campervan, then you’re going to experience some pretty beautiful locations.
Where to stay: If you can’t camp or hire a campervan in Norway, then you can check out romantic accommodation here.

Prague has long been a popular destination for hen nights and stag parties, but it’s actually a really romantic city and a perfect romantic destination for those searching for a city break. Prague has such a romantic atmosphere to it all-year around.
Beautiful autumn colours, an awesome winter vibe, and of course it gets warm in the summer so perfect for sun-seekers!
Prague has lots going on, all the time, so you’ll certainly never get bored.
It’s also a very reasonably priced city, so a getaway here won’t break the bank.

Well, we cannot create a list of the most romantic destinations around the world and not include Paris.
Paris is such a special place, and it’s known as “The City Of Love”.
Paris oozes romance from every street and corner and is filled with beautiful sights to see and romantic things to do.
Whether you decide to enjoy a delicious meal from the Eiffel Tower, or a romantic walk through Pont Neuf, you’ll fall in love all over again when in Paris.
Even just spending one day in Paris can end up being crazy romantic and unforgettable.
Where to stay in Paris, France? Paris is bursting with amazing choices of accommodation. If you want a view of the Eiffel Tower, or a stay in the buzzing Latin Quarter, you’ll find it here. Or, if you rent a campervan in France, you should stay at Camping Paris, just an hour's walk from the Eiffel Tower.

Warsaw was one of the most interesting cities I’ve been to, and it definitely makes the list of romantic destinations around the world for couples!
Not only is Warsaw cheap, it offers delicious Polish cuisine (which I LOVE!), lots of great cocktail bars, a crazy unique history and so much more.
It’s a wonderful place to enjoy a few days away together. Of if you're pushed for time (liek we were) then check out how to experience Warsaw in one day.

Berlin is a fantastic city, and it’s absolutely bursting with amazing things to see and do.
I’ve visited Berlin twice now, and I still haven’t seen everything.
